Max Velocity Fitness Update

You asked me to keep you updated on my progress with Max Velocity Fitness & Performance, which is on schedule to open by mid-September. I'm so excited to share the progress I've made and begin unveiling my plans!

The facility is located inside North Shore Tennis & Racquets Club (34-28 214th Place, Bayside, NY 11361). Painting and renovations are complete, and now I'm busy hiring coaches and stocking the space with top-of-the-line equipment! The shiny, new Olympic barbells have arrived, and the colorful competition bumpers aren't far behind.
The color-coded and pre-sized Rx Smart Gear Speed Ropes are ready to be displayed on the wall, as well.

I'm striving to provide you with a comfortable, supportive environment with top-notch amenities like locker rooms, showers and a restaurant/snack bar. Healthy snacks only, of course ;) My goal is to deliver the best and most complete health-and-fitness experience you can find anywhere.

As such, we will be offering a wide array of programs to suit every fitness level and goal. Some examples:

-- 1-on-1 Personal Training/Strength & Conditioning
-- Small-Group Personal Training/Strength & Conditioning
-- MaxFit Conditioning Classes: Challenging and effective conditioning workouts for all fitness and skill levels. No complicated barbell or gymnastics movements; just a great, efficient workout ranging from 30-minute core and intensity classes to 60-minute endurance classes.
-- Open Gym Memberships: Supervised workouts for advanced athletes.
-- Specialty Services such as a Youth Speed & Agility Program, Olympic Lifting, Nutrition Coaching, Meal Planning and Yoga.

Our Facebook page will launch next week; I'll send you a link so you can stay in the conversation there and never miss an update or promotion. More details will be coming soon!

In the meantime, I wanted to leave you with an important article about one of the founding principles of my business: functional movement and corrective exercise. First we move well, then we add weight and then we add intensity. It's a simple but often ignored recipe for effective training that lasts.

As part of my training program, all clients will receive a seven-step Functional Movement Screen to identify weaknesses, imbalances and mobility restrictions. You will then receive a personalized movement series that your coach will guide you through as you prepare for a training session. It's a surefire way to make sure you are training smart, making progress and enjoying an injury-free fitness experience -- whether you are a new athlete or an experienced one.

Check out this article from one of my favorite sites, Breaking Muscle, on why screening and corrective exercise should be the foundation of any fitness program.

Early next week, expect another email with details of how I plan to implement the other foundational principle of an effective, sustainable fitness program: nutrition.

Looking forward to sharing these updates with you and seeing you at Max Velocity in September!

Dedicated to your success,
Ken
